Penske Logistics to Sponsor CSCMP’s Annual "State of Logistics Report®"
Press Conference to Be Held in Washington, D.C., June 9, 2010
LOMBARD, Ill. (February 16, 2010)—The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) announced that Penske Logistics will sponsor its 21st Annual "State of Logistics Report®" that will be released on June 9 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
"We are excited that Penske Logistics will be sponsoring this important report and we appreciate their support throughout the years," said Rick Blasgen, President and CEO of CSCMP. "We look forward to working with the industry thought leaders at Penske to launch this year’s benchmark report that will help our audience of key decision makers map out their supply chain strategies for the coming year."
CSCMP’s Annual "State of Logistics Report®"contains the complete portrait of industry statistics, their impact, recommendations, and an insightful future perspective on the logistics and supply chain professions. The report has tracked and measured all costs associated with moving goods through the U.S. supply chain since 1988. It benchmarks key metrics in U.S. logistics such as transportation and inventory-carrying costs, freight volumes, and revenues, giving practitioners a big-picture view of the performance of the U.S. supply chain process.
"We believe quality research helps drive innovation within our industry and our business," said Penske Logistics President Vince Hartnett. "We are proud to help drive industry thought leadership and fresh thinking forward by underwriting this longstanding and well-respected report that so many companies and researchers rely upon."
This year’s event will feature a panel of senior supply chain executives from leading companies who will discuss the implications of the report’s findings on their companies and the industry, as well as the changes they will be implementing because of them. Key findings from this year’s report will include a decline in business inventories throughout 2009 and potential motor carrier capacity constraints in 2010 as the economy continues to recover.
