This summer the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced thePhase 2 federal greenhouse-gas (GHG) and fuel-economy regulations that will apply to model-year 2018 trailers, marking the first time the DOT and EPA have proposed efficiency and GHG standards for trailers.

Law enforcement agencies across North America will conduct a brake system inspection blitz on large trucks and buses as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) annual Brake Safety Week, September 6-12, to identify out-of-adjustment brakes and brake system violations. On February 5, 2015, the FDA published a proposed sanitary transportation rule, which it is mandated to do under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The proposed rule seeks to apply a risk-based approach to prevent practices that create food safety issues, such as inadequate temperature control and failure to protect food properly during transportation.
